This restored linen postcard captures Triton Beach on Chesapeake Bay, a sunny stretch of shoreline at Mayo, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Sitting on a peninsula where the South River meets the bay, Mayo has long welcomed visitors to its waterfront beaches , a quiet corner of the Chesapeake where the water and the sky seem to go on forever.
From roughly 1930 to 1945, "linen" postcards were at the height of their popularity, prized for their soft texture and bright, saturated colors. This card was published by Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose work survives today in the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL, bringing back the warmth and clarity of the original scene.
