About Trowbridge Park, Michigan
Trowbridge Park is an unincorporated community of 2,287 people in Marquette Township, Marquette County. The city of Marquette, the county seat, wraps around it on the east and north, and US Highway 41/M-28 runs along its southern side.
The land was platted as a neighborhood in 1910, while it still sat beyond Marquette's city line. By 1915 families had begun buying lots in the new plat and building their homes there, and the community grew from those first households.
- Low taxes and room to farmBecause Trowbridge Park lay outside the city limits, its property taxes stayed low. Some families took advantage of that by buying two or more lots and farming the extra ground, while other owners used their lots for camps.
- Draining to the Dead RiverThe ground in Trowbridge Park slopes so that its water runs north to the Dead River. The river then flows east through the northern part of Marquette and empties into Lake Superior.
- Buses to Hancock and MilwaukeeMarqTran's transit center is in Trowbridge Park. Indian Trails stops there on its daily intercity bus line between Hancock and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
