This vintage image shows a tubercular woman with her two thin children in a shack on Poteau Creek near Spiro Oklahoma. Taken in June 1939, it documents the hardships faced by agricultural day laborers in Sequoyah County. Tragically, only two of her eight children survived the challenges of their environment.
