About Valier, Illinois
From the Franklin County History: "C. D. Rea, the father, purchased considerable land in the neighborhood where the city of Valier is now located, this city being built on land formerly owned by him."
From the Village of Valier: "The land originally belonged to Albert and Minnie Mae Valier and to E. M. Rea. Since the largest part belonged to Mr. Valier, the town was named for him."
