Vintage Log House in Priest River Idaho 1939
This vintage photograph from October 1939 shows a log house and associated structures in Priest River Peninsula, Bonner County, Idaho. Previously, a borrower from the Farm Security Administration occupied this site. In the winter of 1938, the land produced enough hay to sustain eight cows, three calves, and two horses, illustrating agricultural resilience during the Great Depression. The borrower benefitted from a $315 land-clearing loan, reflecting the FSAs role in supporting farmers during challenging economic times.
