About Wainiha, Hawaii
The Wainiha Valley ranked among the finest gulches in Hawaii. It cut between cliffs several thousand feet high, almost into the heart of Mount Waialeale. Few people knew its upper gorge until the Kauai Electric Company dug a water ditch there and opened the scenery to view.
- What the name meansWainiha is a community in the Hanalei district of northern Kauai. Its Hawaiian name translates word for word as unfriendly water.
