About West Milton, Pennsylvania
In the winter of 1880 and 1881, the Union Pipe Line Company brought oil from Bradford to West Milton. It built two oil tanks on the Follmer farm. It ran a line across the river and built loading racks on two railroads. Crude oil was shipped by rail until 1883, when the company extended its line toward Philadelphia.
Harrison and Melancthon Reiser laid out the town of West Milton on January 8, 1872. The village grew on the site of the old Reiser homestead. Benjamin F. Reiser was born at that homestead in 1846.
