In June 1942, construction progresses at the Tennessee Valley Authoritys hydroelectric plant at Wilson Dam, near Sheffield, Alabama. The facility generates up to 288,000 kilowatts of power, with potential expansion to 444,000 kilowatts. Wilson Dam also provides 377,000 acre-feet of water storage for the Tennessee River system.
