About This Historic Map
Drawn from an elevated bird's-eye perspective, this map presents Wolcottville in the 1870s, when the area was shaped by its mills, factories, churches, riverside industry, and surrounding farmland. The overall view sweeps across the valley, showing the tightly clustered village center along the water and the roads that radiate out into the green hillsides beyond.
Along the bottom border, the map features detailed vignettes of local industry, including the Turner & Seymour Mfg. Co. and other prominent works, alongside a numbered reference key to the town's churches, schools, and businesses that shaped daily life in Wolcottville in this era.
For anyone with roots in Wolcottville , now part of Torrington , this map is more than a historic view. It captures the mills along the river, the church steeples rising above the rooftops, and the quiet hillside roads, along with the memories that keep families connected to this corner of Connecticut.
A statement piece for any room, this reproduction is printed using KNOWOL's restored version of the 1877 Wolcottville map, preserving the historic character of the original while adding depth, warmth, and visual clarity.
