This vintage linen postcard captures the Yacht Basin at Cambridge, Maryland, where piers and wharves frame a calm gathering of boats. Set on the Choptank River, Cambridge has long been one of the largest towns on Maryland's Eastern Shore and a working port whose harbor and waterfront have shaped the life of Dorchester County for generations.
From the 1930s through the 1940s, American "linen" postcards reached their golden age, printed on textured card stock that gave scenes their soft, saturated glow. This view comes from the era of Tichnor Bros. Inc. of Boston, whose work is preserved today in the celebrated Tichnor Brothers Collection. This edition has been carefully restored and color-revived by KNOWOL.
