About Avondale, Colorado

Avondale is a rural community of 594 people in Pueblo County, a short way east of the city of Pueblo. Its post office opened on March 22, 1892, and it still handles mail under ZIP Code 81022 for 1,624 people in Avondale and the farm country around it.

“From fertile farm fields to boisterous baseball fields and foreign battlefields, the people of south-central Colorado’s small town of Avondale step up to the plate in many ways. This rural community just east of Pueblo has been settled since the late 1800s by a mix of Hispanos, Italians, and migrant farmworkers.”
