About Bay Shore, Michigan
Early residents used two names here, calling the northern end Bay Side. In 1892 the Chicago and West Michigan Railway opened a station, and the community adopted the Bay Shore name. The name reflects its setting on Little Traverse Bay. Eugene Sly, one of the original landowners, became the first postmaster that year.
