About Boling, Texas
The area was known as Floyd's Lane until the New York, Texas and Mexican Railway arrived in 1900. The town was named for the Bolling family of Virginia. But the name was misspelled when residents applied for a post office, and Boling stuck.
Sulphur, oil and gas were found on the Boling dome in 1925, and the farm and railroad town boomed. So many companies arrived that streets and subdivisions were named for them. Mineral production led the local economy for 70 years.
