About Bryant, Washington

Samuel S. Ehrdahl arrived in 1885 and found only five settlers at what became Bryant. The settlers cut a trail and later spent four months making it a wagon road. Ehrdahl had no wagon, no horse and not even an ox until 1887. When he finally got a cow, he carried her hay on his back for two miles.

In 1905 the Stimson Mill Company built a logging railroad from Marysville to Bryant and on east into virgin timber. Known as the Marysville and Northern, it was about twenty miles long. The logging it served lasted until the summer of 1926.
