About Bushland, Texas
Bushland began as a stop on the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railway. Its name honors William Henry Bush, who came from Chicago. Bush was the son-in-law of Joseph Glidden, the inventor of barbed wire. In 1898 Glidden passed his Frying Pan Ranch to Bush. Bush gave land for the town site and dedicated it on July 3, 1908.
