About Castleton-on-Hudson, New York
Between 1890 and 1920, Castleton thrived with small industry, a hotel and a little port on the river. A large flood in 1936 destroyed much of the business district. Industry moved away after the flood, and the village became a quiet residential suburb. It added on-Hudson to its name in 1927.
