About College View, Nebraska
College View grew up around Union College, which opened southeast of Lincoln in 1891. A post office came the same year. By 1892 about 1,000 people lived here, and the village incorporated. Lincoln spread south and annexed College View in 1929, when it had 2,900 residents.
- Wartime training on campusDuring World War II, medical recruits marched and trained in College View. Photos show soldiers, Desmond T. Doss among them, marching under the clocktower at Union College.
