About Cypress, Illinois
From the 1925 History of Johnson County, Illinois: "Lincoln Green Post Office which had been established near this place many years ago, and was first called Gray's Mill, was moved to Cypress. The town probably took its name from the tall cypress trees that grew near it in Cache bottom."
