About Darrtown, Ohio
In 1802, three settlers from Pennsylvania entered the land where Darrtown stands. It cost a dollar and a quarter an acre. They brought their families in 1803 and divided the section. Conrad Darr took the south half. On April 4, 1814, he laid out the village and named it after himself.
Early on, Jacob Ogle and a local miller built two flatboats at a mill on Four-Mile Creek. When a freshet raised the creek, they floated the empty boats to Hamilton. There the boats were loaded with cargo for New Orleans.
