About Fresno, Ohio
Fresno is a community of 140 people in eastern White Eyes Township, Coshocton County, on State Route 93 between West Lafayette and Baltic. The village started at a mill run by William M. Boyd, and the settlement that grew up around it was first known as Jacktown. A county history of 1909 counted Boyd's mill among the early mill settlements of Coshocton County, alongside Bakersville in Adams Township.
- Jacktown, then AvondaleThe people who lived here apparently never liked the name Jacktown. They settled the matter by popular vote and chose Avondale as the new name for their community.
- Fresno since 1905A post office opened here under the name Avondale in 1875. Thirty years later, in 1905, the post office changed its name to Fresno, and the community has gone by that name ever since.
