About Homeworth, Ohio
Homeworth owed its existence mainly to the railroad. Even so, a cluster of buildings called Winchester was there by 1840. The post office went by the name Sandy until 1869. That year it adopted the more pleasing title of Homeworth.
Jonas Ruff built the first hotel on the main four corners in 1852. For several years a sign over the door read, Call and see Jonas Ruff. He kept the hotel until about 1863. In 1871 P. W. Taylor bought it and ran it along with his job as postmaster.
