About Jamestown, New Mexico

El Paso Natural Gas Company built an oil refinery at the Continental Divide. Locals knew it as the Gallup or Ciniza Refinery. Giant bought it in 1982, and in 1987 built the largest truck stop in its chain close by. By 1993 the refinery and the truck stop were the sole businesses in town.
