About Jonesboro, Illinois
Jonesboro is a city and the county seat of Union County, Illinois. The 2020 census recorded 1,711 residents. Selected as a town site in 1816 and named for Doctor Jones, the community later hosted the third Lincoln-Douglas debate in 1858.
