About Keedysville, Maryland

From the Maryland Historical Trust: "The name was changed to Keedysville in 1848 when citizens pressed for a post office and it was found that there was already a Centreville in Eastern Maryland."

From the Maryland Historical Trust: "The significance of Antietam has perhaps overshadowed the many smaller military actions that took place in Washington County in 1863 and 1864. One such incident was a sizable Cavalry skirmish which took place in and around Keedysville on August 5, 1864."
