About Kopperston, West Virginia

Kopperston was a model coal camp, built by the Koppers company. It was finished in November 1938, with 100 houses set in rows along a level valley. The one-story houses were gray, tan and white. A huge gray tipple cleaned coal from three mountain seams and loaded it into railroad cars.
