About Kyle, South Dakota

Kyle is a community of 943 people in Oglala Lakota County, on the Oglala Lakota's Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. It is home to Oglala Lakota College, a tribal college that the Lakota Nation runs in Kyle, and to Little Wound School, which teaches children from their first grades through high school.

“The Indian community of Kyle is located near the banks of Kyle Dam on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. To the local Lakota people it is known by its true name of Pejuta Haka or Medicine Root.”
Tim Giago, Indianz.com, 2014
