About Lake Erie Beach, New York
Lake Erie Beach is a hamlet of 3,467 people in the town of Evans, Erie County, lying between the Lake Erie shore and NY Route 5. For generations the Evans shoreline was a summer destination, and visitors filled its cottages, camps, parks and church retreats during the warm months.
- Built by the Home Guardian CompanyTo bring more people to the Evans shore, developers bought large pieces of land and laid out new communities. Grandview Bay and Roat Acres came first. The Home Guardian Company followed and built the community at Lake Erie Beach.
- Camp Pioneer since 1945In 1945 the YMCA sold 75 acres here to the Western New York Lutheran Laymen's League. The league used the land to open Camp Pioneer, which joined the many summer camps along this part of the lake.
- Next door to EvangolaLake Erie Beach sits just northeast of Evangola State Park, on the same stretch of Lake Erie shoreline that first drew summer visitors to Evans.
