About Loch Lomond, Virginia
Loch Lomond is a census-designated place of 4,050 people in Prince William County, Virginia. It takes its name from Loch Lomond, a lake in northern Scotland, and its neighborhood school sits on ground that belonged to the historic Ben Lomond property.
- A school on Ben Lomond landBy 1961, new neighborhoods were filling in on the north side of Manassas, and that year Loch Lomond Elementary opened its doors to their children. Developer C.D. Hylton gave the ground for the school, which was once part of the historic Ben Lomond property.
- Zella Brown arrives in 1964In 1964 the county transferred teacher Zella Brown to Loch Lomond Elementary from Antioch-McRae Elementary School, an all-Black school.
