About Paloma Creek, Texas

Paloma Creek is a planned community in the northeast corner of Denton County, and the 2020 census counted 3,177 people in its northern section. Provident Realty Advisors, a Dallas company, laid it out on about 1,200 acres of unincorporated land on both sides of U.S. Highway 380, and the first homes were finished early in 2005.

Many different builders have put up houses there, and the finished plan calls for 5,600 homes, with 900 sites north of the highway and 4,700 to the south. Easy access to Highway 380, the Dallas North Tollway and the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge brought families quickly. By 2010 the census found 2,501 people in the northern section and 2,753 in the southern one.

  • Navo, settled in 1847Thomas Navo settled a small community just south of Paloma Creek in 1847, on the line of today's U.S. Highway 380, about ten miles east of Denton, and it took his name. Navo had its own post office from 1884 until it closed in 1907. The name lives on in Navo Middle School, where Paloma Creek's children still go.
  • A neighborhood school from 2007Between 2007 and 2016 every family in the northern section sent its children to Paloma Creek Elementary, and then on to Navo Middle School. Enrollment fell and state test scores stayed low for several years, so in 2026 the Denton school district closed the elementary school and put the building to a new use.
