About Perryville, Arkansas

From the Encyclopedia of Arkansas: "The new county was named Perry in honor of Commodore Oliver H. Perry of the U.S. Navy, who was a popular hero in the War of 1812, though one with no known connection to the county. The county seat was named Perryville."

From the Encyclopedia of Arkansas: "In 1844, John Rison moved to Price’s old site and built a log house for his new wife, Harriett. The young couple began a Methodist church, and their house became a center for community affairs. This hewn log house remains standing and is the town’s oldest building."
