About Scircleville, Indiana
A member of the Scircle family platted Scircleville in 1873, and the town carries the family name. It grew into a small trade center for the area. The first general store belonged to Josiah Drake. John Scircle ran the first drug store. The post office opened in 1875.
The township's first post office stood at Burget's Corner, with William Burget as postmaster. He also opened the first store there. The building put up for that store and post office was later moved to Scircleville, where it still stood years later.
