About St. James, New York
St. James took its name from Saint James Episcopal Church in the 1850s. In the early 1900s, stars of stage and screen spent summers here. Lionel, Ethel and John Barrymore came, along with Buster Keaton, Myrna Loy and Irving Berlin.
- A record-holding depotThe St. James railroad station opened in 1873. Its small station house is the second oldest on the whole Long Island Rail Road.
