About Surprise Creek Colony, Montana

Surprise Creek Colony is a Hutterite community of 8 people in Judith Basin County, in the north-central part of Montana. The colony began in 1963, when it split off from the King Ranch Hutterite Colony, and its home lies in the valley of Surprise Creek, which runs north into Arrow Creek and on toward the Missouri River. Stanford, the county seat, is about 5 miles away, and Great Falls is 56 miles to the northwest.
