About Toeterville, Iowa
Toeterville was platted in 1898. Henry and Mina Toeter founded the village, and it carries their family name. Its post office opened on February 17, 1898. It served the town until 1985, when it was joined to the St. Ansgar office.
St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church began in 1869, long before the village was platted or the railroad was built. Heinrich Toeter was among its first members. The church building first stood outside the village. In the fall of 1907 it was moved into the village and remodeled.
