About Wellfleet, Nebraska

From the Nebraska Our Towns: "The people that remained, however, did not give up. The first bank was organized in 1908 by the Ralston family from Farnam. A dam was finally built in 1932 after the Wellfleet Lake Company was formed, resulting in a two-mile-long lake for flood control and recreation."

From the Nebraska Historic Buildings Survey: "Located in the south central part of Lincoln County on Medicine Creek, Wellfleet was established as a station on the Burlington Railroad in 1886. The town was platted by the railroad’s Lincoln Townsite Company the following year."
