About Willow Branch, Indiana
The town took its name from Willow Branch, the stream it stands beside. A. B. Thomas opened its first business, a store, in 1874. He also became postmaster when the office moved over from Green Township. Jonathan Smith, a farmer and merchant, had kept it there for years.
Austin B. Thomas platted the town on April 21, 1882, with fifty-six lots. It took the same name as its post office, Willow Branch. During the nineties the post office name was shortened to Willow.
