Real geography. Art worth displaying.
This map was created using accurate cartographic data and authoritative geographic sources, including the U.S. Geological Survey and the Census Bureau. The map brings together terrain, waterways, roads, and building detail. The majority of the streets are labeled, houses are accurately depicted, and the topography is derived from government sources. Combining local data with carefully composed color and shading leads to this beautifully detailed Danbury artwork for your wall.
Rather than simply showing street outlines, we’ve included as many of the street names as we could reasonably fit on the map while keeping their names legible. About Danbury, Texas
Danbury is a Brazoria County city shaped by farming and the arrival of the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1905-06. Early settlers raised produce for shipment by rail and boat, while later local industries included rice, cattle, oil, and catfish. The 2020 census recorded 1,671 residents.
- Railroad ArrivalThe Missouri Pacific Railroad reached the area in 1905-06, opening previously difficult-to-reach farmland and encouraging new towns along its route.
- Produce RoutesFarmers sent watermelons, strawberries, cabbages, and onions north by train, while docks on Austin Bayou carried produce toward Galveston.
- Early SchoolsClasses first met in a home; a one-room frame school followed before 1909, and Danbury completed its first brick school in 1920.
- Wartime AirfieldDuring World War I, an airfield at Danbury received planes from Ellington Field before they continued to West Columbia for cross-country flight training.
- City GovernmentDanbury incorporated in 1960 under a mayor and council government.
