About Del Rio, Texas

Del Rio is the county seat of Val Verde County, near the meeting of the Rio Grande and San Felipe Creek. The 2020 census recorded 34,673 residents. Its development reflects the influence of spring water, irrigated farming, railroads, ranching, military activity, and ties with Mexico.

  • Shifting GrowthHomes first clustered near San Felipe Creek, then spread northward with the railroad and later retail development along U.S. Highway 90.
