About Dresden, New York
In late colonial times, the Great War Path between French and British colonies crossed Dresden, though few battles were fought here. Settlers arrived in 1784 and lived by lumbering and making maple syrup. The town was formed from Fort Ann in March 1822 under the name South Bay. It was renamed Dresden a month later, on April 17.
