About Dublin, Virginia
Dublin is a town of 2,682 people in Pulaski County, and it belongs to the Blacksburg-Christiansburg metropolitan area. Its name comes from Dublin in Ireland. A local legend says the name came by way of New Dublin Presbyterian Church, which had been named for the Irish city first. The town counted 2,288 people in 2000 and had grown to 2,682 by the 2020 census.
- A wartime staff villageThe New River Ordnance Plant kept a staff village about a mile southeast of Dublin. It was a group of 15 houses, put up to support the war effort.
- The world's largest Volvo truck plantVolvo Trucks North America runs its New River Valley plant just outside Dublin, and no Volvo truck plant anywhere is bigger. Close to 3,000 people work there on several models of heavy-duty trucks, and in early 2021 the plant began building the battery-powered VNR Electric.
