About Eden, New York
Eden is a town of 7,573 people in Erie County, one of the interior Southtowns south of Buffalo. Samuel Tubbs was its first settler, arriving in 1808, and four other men came that same year: Daniel Webster, Levi Bunting, Dr. John March and John Welch. Four years later, in 1812, the town of Willink was split up, and Eden was formed from part of its land.
Eden started out larger than it is today, because it later gave up land when the towns of Evans and Boston were created. Its main settlement was known as Hill's Corners until 1822, and the hamlet has also gone by the name Eden Center.
- Kazoos since 1916The Original American Kazoo Company opened in Eden in 1916, and it is still the only factory in North America that makes metal kazoos. Its building on Route 62 has a gift shop and a museum that tells the company's story and walks visitors through how a kazoo is put together.
- The Eden Corn FestivalEvery year Eden holds a small festival built around corn. It brings a craft show, an auto show, a few rides, a short parade, baseball and softball tournaments and a tractor pull, and most of the local food on offer is made with corn in one form or another.
- Once called Tubbs HollowEden Valley, a hamlet on US 62 near the northern town line, was once known as Tubbs Hollow. Eighteen Mile Creek splits into forks near the hamlet.
