About Goetz, Wisconsin
Goetz is a town in southeastern Chippewa County with a 2020 population of 813. Its history includes federal land surveys, timber resources, agricultural settlement, and a name honoring an early local farmer.
- Named in 1887The town was formed in 1887 and named for Henry Goetz, a farmer who immigrated from Germany in 1860.
- Early Federal SurveysGovernment crews surveyed the future town's six-mile squares in 1848 and marked section lines in the eastern square in October 1849.
