About Jackson Springs, North Carolina
The Jackson family settled here in the 1700s, and the place took their name. Jackson Springs later grew into a mineral spa town built around a large hotel. When fire destroyed that hotel in 1933, the community went into decline.
In 1896 the state Board of Agriculture described Jackson Springs as a health resort in Moore County. Its springs flowed together into a small stream of clear, cool water. A comfortable hotel stood near the springs, in the heart of the longleaf pine country.
