About Lake Luzerne, New York
Lake Luzerne is a town of 3,079 people in southern Warren County, inside the Adirondack Park and west of the city of Glens Falls. Its first permanent European settlers arrived around 1770. In 1792 the land was split off from Queensbury and became the Town of Fairfield.
In 1808 the town took the name Luzerne to honor Anne-César, Chevalier de la Luzerne, who served as France's minister to the young United States. During the Revolution he had backed a loan with his own credit so that American soldiers could be fed. In 1963 the name grew to Lake Luzerne.
