About Modena, Pennsylvania
Modena is a small borough in Chester County whose earlier name, Modeville, recalled the local Mode family. Alexander Mode settled in East Fallowfield around 1739 and used Brandywine waters to operate a sawmill. Today, several local roads meet near the center of this compact, 0.3-square-mile community.
