About Palestine, Illinois
From the 1903 Historical Encyclopedia of Illinois: "PALESTINE, a town in Crawford County, about 2 miles from the Wabash River, 7 miles east of Robinson, and 3.5 miles south by west from Terre Haute, on the Indiana & Illinois Southern Railway."
From the History of Crawford and Clark Counties: "Another early settler was Leonard Simons. He came from Tennessee, and located first at Palestine, in the days when the people found it conducive to longevity to live in forts."
