About Palmer Heights, Pennsylvania

Palmer Heights is a community of 3,734 people in Palmer Township, Northampton County, in the Lehigh Valley. The Seip family came here from Germany during the Indian wars of the 18th century and settled in Palmer Township, on the spot that later took their name as Seip's, or Seipsville.

The first Seip in Northampton County built an inn at Seipsville, and in 1894 a county history noted that it had stayed in the hands of his descendants ever since it went up. Peter H. Seip, one of those descendants, kept the hotel for 18 years, until the spring of 1893.

  • The Seipsville HotelThe inn the Seip founder built at Seipsville was counted among the historic landmarks of Northampton County by 1894. It had passed only from one generation of his family to the next, and it is now listed on the National Register as the Seipsville Hotel.
  • A post office at Seip'sPeter H. Seip, who ran the family inn for 18 years, worked to bring a post office to Seip's. When it was established, he was appointed its first postmaster.
  • 3,734 people in 2020The Census Bureau counted 3,734 people in Palmer Heights in 2020, down from 3,762 in 2010. The community covers 1.2 square miles, and its high school students go to Easton Area High School in Easton.
