About Pleasant Run Farm, Ohio
Pleasant Run Farm is a community of 4,779 people in Springfield Township, Hamilton County, northwest of Cincinnati between Forest Park and Fairfield. It takes its name from Pleasant Run Farms, a housing subdivision laid out across 670 acres. When the Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission approved the plan, no larger subdivision had ever passed through that office.
- A Homearama showcaseHomearama is the yearly show of new houses put on by the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati, and the young Pleasant Run Farms subdivision was chosen to host it. Wikipedia counts it as the fifth Homearama and dates it to 1965. The list of past shows in a 2003 Cincinnati Magazine supplement places it in 1966, with Ken Hammond named beside it.
- 100 more homes from 1967The subdivision kept growing after the show. Starting in 1967, builders added another 100 homes to Pleasant Run Farms, filling in more of its 670 acres.
- Neighbors organized in 1969In 1969 residents founded the Pleasant Run Farms Civic Association to speak for the subdivision. The census later named the whole community after the neighborhood, so Pleasant Run Farm still carries the name of the development where it began.
