About Poplarville, Mississippi
From Dunbar Rowland's 1907 encyclopedia of Mississippi history: "Poplarville, the county seat of Pearl River county, located on the New Orleans and North Eastern R. R. 71 miles northeast of New Orleans, was named for Poplar creek which heads at or near the center of the town."
