About Trenton, Ohio
Trenton is a Butler County city on the west bank of the Great Miami River. Its population reached 13,021 in the 2020 census. First known as Bloomfield, the settlement later took the name Trenton, while the railroad helped turn its agricultural economy toward grain.
- Bloomfield BeginningsMichael Pearce came to the area in 1801, and his first village, Bloomfield, contained 33 lots.
- New Jersey ConnectionThe post office opened in 1820 under the name Trenton, chosen to honor Michael Pearce's home state of New Jersey.
- Railroad EraAfter the railroad arrived in 1851, Trenton developed from a farming community into a grain center.
- Registered FarmsThe Christian Ehresman Farm and John Kennel Jr. Farm are listed on the National Register.
- 2020 PopulationThe 2020 census recorded 13,021 residents.
